Did you know that in addition to NACD’s Officer Team each NACD Region has two additional groups of people who represent and support our members at the national level? We have seven Region Executive Board Members and seven Region Chairs who sit on our national leadership team and help guide the work of NACD. Like the Officers, NACD’s Executive Board Members are NACD volunteers, and they provide a significant amount of guidance to our day-to-day activities.

NACD encourages local coordination and consultation on any decisions that will impact local production, access, and/or economy including economic analyses, recovery plans, critical habitat designations, and listing decisions. In line with the need for coordination, NACD also encourages FWS to provide plans that have clearly defined goals and objectives, as well as alternate recovery options. Conservation Districts are a uniquely positioned partner to address wildlife and habitat concerns but it is necessary that they are a part of the conversation from the start.

Outlining four efforts, Bettencourt and NRCS Associate Chief Louis Aspey laid out their “farmer first” approach at the 2025 Trust in Food Symposium in Washington, D.C.: Upgrade technology; Revive hands-on service through field offices; Improve data management and use; Simplify programs.
Yesterday, Mexico’s National Service of Agro-Alimentary Health, Safety, and Quality (SENASICA) reported a new case of New World Screwworm (NWS) in Ixhuatlan de Madero, Veracruz in Mexico, which is approximately 160 miles northward of the current sterile fly dispersal grid, on the eastern side of the country and 370 miles south of the U.S./Mexico border. This new northward detection comes approximately two months after northern detections were reported in Oaxaca and Veracruz, less than 700 miles away from the U.S. border, which triggered the closure of our ports to Mexican cattle, bison, and horses on May 11, 2025.
USDA: Trump Administration Announces Expedited Congressionally Mandated Disaster Assistance for Farmers

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins announced today that agricultural producers who suffered eligible crop losses due to natural disasters in 2023 and 2024 can now apply for $16 billion in assistance through the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP).

Standing on the shore of the Missisquoi River Wednesday, a line of eager young fishing fanatics took turns practicing their skills with the help of a number of environmental groups. The Missisquoi River Fishing Festival, spearheaded by the Franklin County Natural Resources Conservation District, brought area organizations together to teach kids hands-on practices and about the river which flows through the county.
