USDA: Strengthening National Security Through Conservation

These designations expand the Sentinel Landscapes Partnership network to 21 landscapes, building on a decade of collaboration among the USDA, U.S. Department of War (DOW) and U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) that strengthens agricultural and forest production, protects critical military training space, and preserves compatible land uses and natural resources.

USDA-NRCS: USDA Invests up to $310 Million in Partnership Projects to Boost Farm Operations and Conserve Natural Resources

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is putting Farmers First by investing up to $310 million to expand producer conservation activities across the nation through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP). USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is accepting RCPP project proposals now through August 24, 2026, to help farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners boost their operations and conserve natural resources.

Ohio’s Country Journal: A soil health journey in Seneca County leads to regenerative agriculture

The Margrafs’ farm is located northwest of McCutchenville and is in the Sandusky River watershed. They are participants in the H2Ohio program. They raise soybeans, corn and wheat, and have just started raising hay. The hay is mostly for feeding the cattle. The cattle are Red Poll, a beef breed in the United States, but in some places, it is considered a dual-purpose breed. Change has been the one constant on Bret’s journey with conservation. His father was practicing no-till with his uncle Bob in the mid-1980s.

Recent heavy rainfall events across southeast Nebraska demonstrated the critical value of flood control infrastructure maintained by the Lower Big Blue Natural Resources District, with watershed structures preventing more than $1 million in estimated flood damages in Saline and Gage counties.

The final stop was a Grays Harbor Conservation District riparian restoration site along the Mox Chehalis Creek. Anthony Waldrop, a watershed restoration program manager with the Conservation District, walked the group through how the salmon state riparian grant would restore salmon habitat along a one-mile stretch of the creek by installing log structures to improve in-stream habitat and planting 19.1 acres of native vegetation to create a riparian buffer.

The East Stanislaus Resource Conservation District announced that East Stanislaus County has officially earned the unique designation as an official “Clean California Community” from Caltrans’ Clean CA initiative. This makes East Stanislaus County one of 100 communities to earn the designation across the state.
